My next few posts will be detailing the crafts that I am considering with the pros and cons of each and should culminate with the purchase and use of the selected craft.  I hope that this exercise will be beneficial to anyone else in search of their next UAV as well. With that being said let’s take a look at the features that I will be considering in making the selection. The main features and capabilities that I am seeking in the UAV are GPS, waypoint/autopilot technology, Return to Home (RTH) functionality, distance of control, flight time per battery, photography capability (either built in or designed for digital camera attachment) and of course cost.
While all of these features are desired there will be some give and take when making the final selection but there are a couple that are must have to make the selection process. It must be able to support aerial photography and it must have GPS and return to home features. It must also in this instance be a ready to fly or bind and fly model.  Perhaps next time I will build my own. I would also like for it to be under $1000.00 dollars in cost. Now let’s take a brief look at the contenders that made the initial cut. This line of UAV’s has models ranging in price from around $500 and up with some of the newer models in the $1300 range.  They come with and without built in cameras but all will support adding a Go Pro camera.  I will probably take a closer look at several models and compare them not only with their competitors but also with each other. To me this one is very interesting.  As they haven’t gone on the market yet and the guesses at what page range they will be running are all over the board it is really hard to determine if this is a contender or a pretender.
For the right price, since it has a built in camera that from the demos seems to do a good job it could be a real deal.  On the other hand if they price it on the high side it isn’t interesting enough to pursue in my opinion.  But I will review what is out there about it and perhaps they will actually release it on the market soon. This for all intents and purposes appears to be a knock off of the DJI Phantom although at a much better price than the lower tier Phantoms and for that reason it makes the short list.  I mean, if you can get a UAV that functions as well as a more expensive name brand at a price that seems to be less than have the price you would be a fool not to consider it.  One thing that has to be taken into account with this product, unlike some of the others, is that you must provide your own camera for it. Need to keep that expense in mind when making my decision. This is the only 6 prop UAV to make it on the list and is about the most affordable 6 prop UAV I have seen.
