The weapons that will keep Britain safe in the future have been unveiled, including Star Wars-style lasers, virtual reality helmets and micro drones shaped like insects. The Ministry of Defence revealed the gadgets as a part of the Government's new defence innovation initiative this morning. In a bid to meet the challenges of tomorrow, the MoD is hoping to equip the Armed Forces with cutting-edge technology - and the big reveal could not come at a better time. On Wednesday, leaked government memos revealed concerns inside the government that Russia has the edge on Britain when it comes to military strength. But the £800million project hopes to allay those fears. Sensors that use gravity to survey underground structures in minutes and mobile robots that can inspect incidents involving chemical materials are among the new gadgets that have been unveiled. Also unveiled is the Skeeter Dragonfly drone, which can fit into the palm of your hand and spy on the UK's enemies. In a CGI video released by the MoD, the drone can be seen infiltrating an enemy base.

The MoD are also encouraging individuals and companies to pitch ideas to a Dragons' Den-style panel. New weapons which include a laser-targeting system designed to prevent aerial threats is being developed. Christmas Day put together and on/off switch was missing from drone,so couldn't operate. Many calls to the Companies number and told the service dept would call...they haven't yet 3 days later. Talked to Overstock rep and told their service dept would contact us....so far no call or email. So here we are with a gift that doesn't work.
