Parrot's new Flight Recorder for AR.Drone 2.0Parrot has announced a new peripheral for its AR.Drone 2.0, a black box-style Flight Recorder with 4 GB of Flash storage to record GPS and flight data, as well as locally save about 2 hours of HD footage recorded on the drone's onboard camera. Parrot has also announced a new Director Mode for its piloting app which allows easy editing of recorded footage, as well as an improved battery which increases the drone's flight time by a claimed 50 percent. In the grand tradition of airplane black boxes, Parrot has colored its new Flight Recorder module bright orange. With the outer shell removed, the module is fastened to the AR.Drone 2.0 with velcro, and connected by USB. The company says that the module tracks both GPS and onboard flight data, and is accurate to plus or minus 2 meters (7 feet). The data can be retrieved and overlaid on the maps of the AR.Drone Academy for viewing in 3D.The Flight Recorder is fitted inside the AR.Drone's outer shellThe Flight Recorder also provides new navigational possibilities.
A Click & Go mode allows a destination to be set with a single tap of a map on a smartphone or tablet. Altitude and flight speed can be adjusted as desired. The new Return Home function calls the AR.Drone 2.0 back to its point of departure with a single push. The Flight Recorder is also compatible with the QGround Control station and the open source MAVLink protocol. ar drone 2 fiyatUsers of autopilot software paparazzi can install it on their drones thanks to a project at the Delft University of Technology.Parrot's AR.differenze parrot ar drone 1 e 2Drone 2.0 (sans shell) complete with Flight Recorder spotted by Gizmag at this year's Paris Air Show (Photo: Gizmag)Parrot has also announced a new Director Mode in its AR.parrot ar drone sales figures

More significantly, Director Mode lets pilots edit together videos of their favorite sequences, essentially allowing them to knock up quick highlights reels from longer flight videos. parrot ar drone film festivalParrot has also created a new Rescue Mode, available as a free update, which activates the propellers in two ways in order to dislodge a drone caught in a tree.ar drone flight recorder rangeFinally, Parrot has announced a new lithium polymer "High Density" battery which, the company claims, increases flight time by 50 percent to a total of 18 minutes. ar drone 2 yorumIt does not appear that this is included as standard on new AR drones.
Parrot's Flight Record is priced at US$129.95 and is available immediately. Director Mode is available as an iOS in-app purchase for $3.99 (the app must be up to date to see this option). An Android version is set for September. The High Density battery is set to go on sale for $69.95, but is yet to be listed at the online store.Product page: Parrot Flight Recorder for AR Drone 2.0Parrot AR Drone 2.0 VS Parrot AR Drone 3.0 With demand for quadcoper drones on the increase, the French company Parrot comes in the forefront of the big players, especially with their Parrot AR Drone 2.0 and the Parrot AR Drone 3.0. When Parrot AR Drone was launched in 2012, its great features enticed many drone enthusiasts. But, unknown to them, Parrot had even a more advanced version in mind – the Parrot AR Drone 3.0. Not that the new version has come to erode the previous one though, but there are some high-performance features infused into the new model which makes drone flying, either for pleasure or business, a memorable experience.
In terms of size, the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 is a little heavier than its successor. With its hull in place, the version 2.0 is measured at 57x57 cm, but without the hull, it is 45x45 cm. In contrast, the Parrot AR Drone 3.0 is a featherweight that’s easier to use indoors. It’s 38x33 cm with its hull, and 32x28 cm without it. Although there’s really no issue landing the Parrot AR Drone 2.0, the Parrot AR Drone 3.0 has been fortified with updated motor and propeller mounts that ensure the drone is safe from being completely shattered in case of rough landing. However, that depends on how it’s controlled. As for the controller, both the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 and the Parrot AR Drone 3.0 are equipped with iOS Android App for functions like taking off and auto-landing, direction movement adjustment and taking photo snapshot and recording video. However, the Wi-Fi range for each model is different. While the version 2.0 has a paltry line-of-sight of 200 feet range, that of the Parrot AR Drone 3.0 is 525 with line of sight and Wi-Fi of 802.
The new version 3.0 also comes standard with a sky controller and a Wi-Fi antenna array of 36dBm, which makes it defy the limited strength of normal wireless. With this, the drone can fly as high as 2 kilometers away while still being controlled with an effective joystick for easier piloting. It's just an 18 MIPS AVR CPU per motor controller for the Parrot AR Drone 2.0. Superior video quality is another feature that differentiates Parrot AR Drone 3.0 from its predecessor. It boasts of 8GB storage space and can record up to 1080p of flight. It's 2.0 version, on the other hand, can only record 720p with a storage of 4GB. Similarly, the Parrot AR Drone 3.0 is incorporated with a huge 14 megapixels with fisheye lens of 180 degrees, which means that it can conveniently look to its side and up at the sky and down at the ground without it physically moving while its 2.0 version has only a wide angle lens of 92 diagonals. In December 2015, the US government noticed a trend of people buying and flying drones in large number, mostly for pleasure, and so asked that each drone be registered.
